The Downing Planetarium
The Downing Planetarium has a 74-seat star theater with a 30-foot dome. The planetarium shows are run with a Minolta MS-8 star projector, two video projectors, and 29 slide projectors all controlled by a computer program. The star projector shown on the right was newly installed in October, 2000

Public Weekend Show Schedule
Public programs in the planetarium star theater are on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Please check our schedule by calling 278-4121 prior to your visit to confirm that the planetarium will be open. If your group size is larger than 10 people, please call 278-4071 so that we can reserve tickets for you.
There is free parking available for weekend shows in lot O and lot P right in front of the planetarium
Free Star Gazing
Each Friday when the planetarium is open, we take a telescope (weather permitting) outside the planetarium to look at celestial objects. Come and check out double star systems, planets, nebulae, and star clusters. There will be someone to assist you in finding what you want to see. We'll be out in front of the planetarium until 9:30 pm.
